A response to summer reading.
I read 1984 and The Power and the Glory. I did like both of them. The Power and the Glory was about a society where religion is illegal and the protagonist is a fugitive. It was a well-written book and it carried a poignant purpose. I would give this novel a 7. I love 1984. It is one of my favorite books and makes one of the scariest points of any book I've read. It's so scary because it's so realistic and believable. It was ironic because the fall play this year is 1984 and I'm hoping we can make it as striking as the novel. I would probably give 1984 an 8 or 9.
